Workers in construction, law enforcement, landscaping, forestry, woodworking, brazing, and medical fields are just some people who can benefit from this brand’s safety eyewear.

Different series of Pyramex safety glasses have different features. If you’re looking for adjustable nose pieces, for example, buy glasses from the Fortress, Montego, Onix, Presidente, Reatta, or Rendezvous series. Venture 3 safety glasses also have this feature. The Venture III product line offers many different lens options, including clear lenses, anti-fog lenses, silver mirror lenses, and more. If you need foam padding for your Pyramex glasses, check out safety eyewear from the Highlander, V2G, and XSG series. A pair of Pyramex safety goggles, item number G404T, also has foam padding for added comfort.

Other popular product features for this brand’s glasses and goggles include anti-fog lenses, headbands, vented frames/lenses, and eyewear that fits over prescription glasses.

If you like what Pyramex has to offer, we also carry the brand’s head protection. Check out Pyramex hard hats at Utility Safeguard.

ANSI Safety Vests

January 3rd, 2011 Comments off

Different types of safety vests are used for different industries, but most jobs require ANSI safety vests. ANSI safety vests are certified by the American National Standards Institute. They meet certain requirements for high visibility safety clothing standards. Here’s a quick guide to the different classes of ANSI safety vests.

ANSI Class 2 safety vests are sleeveless safety vests with 775 square inches of background material and 201 square inches of retro-reflective material (1.375 inch reflective stripes). Required for workers on sites around traffic going 25 mph or higher and workers near heavy machinery, ANSI class 2 safety vests come in many styles and colors.

ANSI Class 3 safety vests are for workers who need greater visibility than what Class 2 vests offer. ANSI Class 3 safety vests are required for workers near traffic that exceeds 50 mph. These vests have 1240 square inches of background material and 310 square inches of retro-reflective material (2 inch reflective stripes). All ANSI Class 3 safety vests have sleeves.

ANSI 207-2006 safety vests are public service safety vests required for all public service officials, including law enforcement, emergency responders, fire officials and DOT personnel. These safety vests can be color-coded and customized for individual industries. Most ANSI 207-2006 safety vests are breakaway vests.

Flu Season Already?

September 20th, 2010 Comments off

School has started up again, and fall officially begins this Wednesday, September 22nd. You know what that means…flu season is quickly approaching!

After last year’s flu season, many people are concerned with H1N1. While it would be ideal for the threat of H1N1 to be non-existent this year, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) unfortunately expects a reappearance of the 2009 H1N1 virus this 2010-2011 flu season.

The good news? You’ll only need one shot instead of two. Last year, the CDC encouraged that people get both the seasonal flu shot and the H1N1 vaccine. This year, however, both shots will be rolled into one. According to the CDC, “the 2010-2011 flu vaccine will protect against three different flu viruses: an influenza A H3N2 virus, an influenza B virus, and the 2009 H1N1 virus.”

Everyone 6 months and older needs a flu shot, urges the CDC. Getting vaccinated is the best method of protection against the flu, but it’s also important to frequently wash your hands with soap and warm water. Alcohol-based hand wipes or instant hand sanitizers are recommended if soap and water are not available. Practicing other healthy habits, like getting enough sleep, being physically active, and drinking plenty of fluids, can also help with flu prevention.

Stay tuned for more 2010 flu shot and H1N1 news this fall on Utility Safeguard’s blog. Don’t forget to stock up on Purell hand sanitizer, too!
